Your future begins in Siegen

Visual media and images are ubiquitous today. They shape our everyday lives and have become an easily accessible medium of communication. Discover the role that art and visual culture have played in different societies and at different times in Siegen’s bachelor’s program in “Art History and Art Education.”

The program covers the history of the visual arts and visual culture from antiquity to the present, exploring their transcultural and global interconnections. It provides you with a solid foundation in art history. You’ll learn about concepts in art education and exhibition curation from the perspectives of art history, art pedagogy, and art practice, and how to apply them. Through collaboration with local collections and exhibition institutions, you’ll work directly with original artworks. In the later semesters, you can choose from a wide range of electives to set your own areas of focus and develop a personalized academic profile.

Through practice-oriented seminars, field trips, and an internship, you’ll gain your first practical experience while still a student and gain insights into exhibition, museum, and art education practices.
