On the "Plural and Transformative Economics" course, you will learn about and critically reflect on various economic theories beyond the mainstream. The course is for you if you want to deal with current topics such as climate change, sustainability, transformation, digitalization, inequality and global justice. You can choose between the specializations Political Economy and Management and Environmental Design. We analyze and discuss economic phenomena from different perspectives and promote discourse between different theories. There is also close contact between students and lecturers. This enables you to acquire the economic skills you need to actively shape social transformation.

Plural and transformative economics

Career prospects

Studying Plural and Transformative Economics opens up numerous perspectives for you. The broad and flexible Master's degree programme with many elective modules from different professional and academic fields allows you to specialize at an early stage. Our graduates are active in various fields of work. They work in non-governmental organizations, ministries and authorities, social enterprises, trade unions, civil society organizations, associations, foundations, university institutions, economic research institutes, management consultancies and business journalism.

The "Plural Economics: Transformation and Sustainability" course always starts in the winter semester. Admission requirements are a Bachelor's degree from a university or university of applied sciences or a comparable degree with a minimum grade of 3.0 (in exceptional cases also 3.5). At least 30 credit points must have been achieved in the field of economics (VWL/BWL) during the Bachelor's degree course. In addition, proof of English language proficiency of at least level B2 is required (e.g. by means of a school-leaving certificate). Study structure

Students start with two joint modules. They then choose between the specializations "Political Economy" or "Management & Environmental Design". These each consist of compulsory modules (orange) and compulsory elective modules (blue, see list on the left), whereby compulsory modules from one specialization can be chosen in the other specialization (so you can choose quite freely from the modules below). An internship or research project and the Master's thesis follow in the final semester. A semester abroad is also possible
