Division 3.1 Legal Affairs and Patents

The staff of the legal department deal with all legal matters of the university, unless they concern personnel law or academic or study-related matters. The department also handles the university's invention and patent matters and is responsible for IP management

Team 3.1

Our tasks

  • Third-party funding agreements (in particular research and development agreements, cooperation agreements, consortium agreements for Horizon Europe)
  • Non-disclosure agreements/NDA/MTA
  • Advice on the Nagoya Protocol
  • University law matters
  • Legal issues relating to the student body
  • Civil law matters (in particular general contractual matters, sales law incl. breach of contract, tenancy law, copyright law)
  • Claims and insurance matters
  • Litigation in civil and administrative law matters
  • Dunning, enforcement and insolvency matters
  • Advice on scholarship guidelines and processing of scholarship payments
  • IP management
    (in particular invention and patent matters)

Do you have questions about insurance cover at the University of Siegen?

The university has extensive insurance cover, including public liability insurance, electronics insurance and drone insurance. In the event of personal injury, employees and students are insured by the NRW State Accident Insurance Fund while carrying out their duties.

If you have any questions about the scope of the insurance cover, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you require special insurance for a project, we will work with you to arrange an appropriate insurance contract.

Have you already had a claim? Then please send us the necessary information. We will take care of the settlement with the insurer and check the assertion of claims against third parties.
