Tasks

The tasks you can do as a student intern are things on the laptop computer and also mostly with the camera. As a ZIMT intern you are present at a few video meetings to get a taste of what it's like. Whether you want to be seen during a meeting is of course the decision of the intern. There are many days when you have a video conference almost every day. However, as an intern you don't have to attend every meeting, but only a few. In the meetings, things like ambiguities are discussed. If someone needs help, there are meetings where anyone from the university can go in and discuss things that are unclear. There is also a meeting that takes place once a week where everyone from the ZIMT meets and discusses what happened last week, what still needs to be discussed and what needs to be done this week. The people who are in the home office have to join in via video conference. Another alternative is that people from the ZIMT can go to any meeting room and record their things or tasks with other people from the ZIMT on a larger screen and present it.

As a ZIMT intern you have your own laptop which you get from the ZIMT department. You also get your own setup where you can do your work. You have a mouse, keyboard, monitor, laptop with a height-adjustable chair and a height-adjustable table. As a ZIMT intern, you also have an hour's break. During this time you can go to the canteen/cafeteria to get food for a cheap student price. Tasks such as creating a website page or creating a sample exam are typical. In fact, in the job you do, you also have to put your laptop in "boot mode" to provide a laptop for someone else.

You are also guided through the university so that you get to know as much as possible. Examples of this are, for example, getting to know the Support Desk or getting to know the Adolf Reichschwein Campus. Internships are also organized by the Paul Bonatz Campus. However, there is a special feature there. You watch how the students write an exam on the laptop. You can also start an exam yourself. You can see how the exam laptops are set up and are also shown what you can see on the lecturers' desks. At the Adolf Reichschwein Campus you are also taken to the X and Z buildings. In the X building there is the so-called Campus TV. The trainees are shown what shows are made there. Afterwards, the studios and podcast rooms of the university are also shown. In the Z building, old things such as a DVD player and old cassettes are shown. Only certain people are allowed to enter this room as the items are very valuable.
