Accommodation for international students
In Germany, you do not automatically receive a room in a student hall of residence with a place at university. You have to find your own accommodation once you have been admitted. The university of Siegen does not have its own student dormitories. You can find all useful information and links for finding accommodation here.
Student residences of the Studierendenwerk Siegen
The average monthly rent for a room is around EUR 270 to EUR 450, plus 2 months' rent deposit.
The rooms are usually furnished, but crockery, cookware and bedding are not part of the basic equipment. A bed linen set
can be ordered and purchased directly from the residence administration:
" Bed set, 48 EUR (pillow and pillowcase, comforter and comforter cover, bed sheet)

" The start of the tenancy is always the first of the month.
" The minimum rental period in Studierendenwerk halls of residence is three months.
" A tenancy agreement is only issued once payment has been received. Please note the information provided by the Studierendenwerk!
" Moving into a hall of residence is possible during the opening hours of the Studierendenwerk or by appointment.

Shared flats
The cheapest way to live is in a shared flat (WG). You have your own room and share the living area, kitchen and bathroom with the other flatmates. The total rent for the apartment and the ancillary costs are shared between the flatmates.
There are one-room apartments that consist of a room with a kitchenette or kitchenette and a separate bathroom or a room and a separate kitchen and bathroom. Service charges are usually not included in the rent (basic rent).

There are also student halls of residence run by private providers. Information on applying for a place in a hall of residence can be found on the websites of the student halls of residence.
Short-term accommodation
If you have not yet found an apartment at the beginning of your studies or are only planning a short stay, you can also take a room in a youth hostel, hotel or guesthouse in Siegen and the surrounding area "Siegerland".
Be sure to check the distance of the accommodation to the city center or your campus and check the bus and train connections.
