Introducing the Faculty of Education, Architecture and the Arts

Faculty II offers an interdisciplinary constellation that is unique in the German university landscape: In particular, the social, spatial and art-related interfaces between the work of many academics* have led to an increasingly productive dynamic in research and teaching since 2011. Under its founding motto "Shaping Community", the faculty offers a variety of perspectives on a future to be shaped by humanity along the entire life course.

The façade of a building is far more than just its outer shell. It is the face of a building. It makes the technical, social and political demands of the building visible and legible. It communicates messages that are - more or less consciously - addressed to the public and significantly shape the experience of the urban space.

University of Siegen reverses trend in first-year students

At the start of the 2025/26 winter semester, the number of first-year students will rise to more than 2,500 - an increase of more than 11 percent. The university expects around 14,000 students in total.

ARCH+ 261 - Urban redevelopment: Schools of transformation. The University of Siegen as a case study.

This month saw the publication of the latest issue of the architecture magazine ARCH+, which is considered to be a defining discourse in the German-speaking world and beyond. Entitled "Urban Redevelopment: Schools of Transformation", it is dedicated to the transformational potential of the spatial practices of universities. Long ridiculed as ivory towers, they are now once again taking center stage as agents of social change. Against the backdrop of structural change, they are demonstrating their power to act where traditional politics, planning and market logic reach their limits.
