• It thematizes historically and systematically the constitutive basic concepts and their specific research methods as well as cross-sectional topics that are significant for all sub-disciplines
• It clarifies basic concepts in the context of their historical, social and cultural conditions (e.g. education, upbringing, learning, subject, childhood/youth, generation), addresses historical issues (e.g. institutions, classics, historical educational research)
