Recently published article in Psychoneuroendocrinology awarded as "Editor's Choice"
One of our recent studies, published in the renowned journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, (“Linking hair cortisol and life stress: The role of stress reactivity and habituation,” authors: J. Planert, T. Stalder, K. Huthsteiner, G.M. Slavich, T. Klucken, J.B. Finke) was included in the journal’s “Editor’s Choice” selection. Using an extensive repeated-measures design, the study examines the relationship between hair cortisol—as a biomarker for chronic stress—and lifetime stressor exposure based on objective criteria. The role of individual adaptability (acute stress reactivity and habituation) in a psychosocial context is also addressed.

Ich forsche im Bereich der neuroendokrinen Grundlagen von Stress und klinisch-psychologischen Erkrankungen. Schwerpunktthemen sind u. a. die methodische Entwicklung und Anwendung der Haarsteroidanalytik sowie die grundlagenbezogene Untersuchung der Cortisol Aufwachreaktion und deren psychosozialer Korrelate.

Als Akademischer Oberrat forsche ich an der Schnittstelle von Biologischer und Klinischer Psychologie, insbesondere zum Zusammenspiel von Stress und Stresshormonen mit emotionalen und kognitiven Prozessen (z. B. assoziatives Lernen). Daneben bilden peripher-physiologische Methoden wie Pupillometrie und Schreckreflex-Modulation (‚Startle′) Schwerpunkte meiner Arbeit.
