Working Together for Greater Accessibility in Siegen-Wittgenstein
Distribution list is intended to facilitate networking and information exchange
How can we work together to advance accessibility in the Siegen-Wittgenstein region? A new mailing list from the University of Siegen aims to bring together people and institutions working on this issue. The “Community of Practice on Accessibility” offers a simple way to stay informed about events and news, discuss regional issues, and share experiences and practical solutions. The goal is to better connect existing knowledge and strengthen collaboration to promote greater accessibility.
The mailing list was launched by Sven Bittenbinder, a research assistant at the Chair of “Business Information Systems, with a Focus on IT for an Aging Society,” headed by Prof. Dr. Claudia Müller. “For accessibility to work in practice, it requires the collaboration of many different stakeholder groups. This mailing list is intended to make it easier in the future to keep all these individuals and institutions up to date with information from the region quickly and on an equal footing,” says Sven Bittenbinder.
From a scientific perspective, too, networking is an important starting point. Prof. Dr. Claudia Müller explains: “In our research, we examine how technology can contribute to improving social practice. With this list, we’re providing a low-barrier tool for networking and exchange. While this is relevant for research, what’s more important is that people in the region can use it to keep each other informed. If it evolves further through their use, so much the better!”
The mailing list is intended to foster an exchange that benefits citizens, various stakeholders, and institutions in the region. In addition to publicizing information and events, the list can also pool expertise from the community and bring together potential collaboration partners. All interested parties from academia, education, government, business, and politics—as well as from associations, initiatives, and other regional organizations—are invited to join. Anyone who would like to contribute their own questions, topics, or specific use cases is also expressly welcome.
