The most important information

on the work-related internship

From the winter semester 2023/24 onwards, students will submit their complete internship report (i.e. including internship report(s) and proof of hours spent as a test subject) in digital form as a PDF file by email to the internship coordinator Dr. Kristian Kleinke at the following address: praktikum@psychologie.uni-siegen.de

Please submit the report in PDF format and name the file according to the following pattern:

Matrikelnummer_Modulnummer.pdf (e.g. 123456_5PSYMA08.pdf)

If you have split your internship and need to create several reports, please combine them into a single PDF file.

You must also submit the original internship booklet to the Psychology Examination Office (AR-NB 0136):

University of Siegen
Fakultät II - Department of Psychology
Prüfungsamt
Adolf-Reichwein-Straße 2a
57076 Siegen

Please make sure that the submitted internship certificates contain an original stamp of the institution (no copies, scans, etc.) and an original signature of the supervising or approved person.

Important:

  • The internship documents are only formally deemed to have been submitted once we have received the originals. The LP can only be booked once the originals have been submitted.
  • One original internship booklet must remain in our archives. If you need another original for your documents, please submit two copies of the work placement booklet.

It is not necessary to register for the SL of the internship module in unisono. The credit points will be credited after the documents have been checked by the Examination Office.

Internship according to FPO 2020-1

Students complete a work-related internship consisting of an orientation internship and a work-qualifying internship.

Duration: The orientation internship lasts 150 hours, the professional internship 240 hours. The work placement can be divided into several sections and can be completed in a block or during the course of study. Each section may not last less than 2 weeks.

Report: A further 30 hours are set aside for the accompanying reading of literature and the preparation of an internship report. In this report, the internship experience is reviewed by reflecting on one's own actions and examining the applicability of psychological findings to solve practical professional tasks.

Time: As a rule, the internships take place during the lecture-free period. The professional internship may be completed at the earliest after acquiring 60 ECTS and should be completed by the beginning of the lecture period of the 6th semester. The working hours depend on the requirements of the internship institution.

Supervision: The internships are generally supervised by a licensed psychotherapist working at the internship institution. For a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy in accordance with the licensing regulations for psychotherapists (PsychThApprO), certain requirements apply to supervision. Details can be found in the FPO.

Institution: The professional internship can be completed at all private and public institutions in Germany that provide an insight into practical professional psychological activities. The relevant requirements of the licensing regulations for psychotherapists (PsychThApprO) apply. Details can be found in the FPO.

Internshipabroad: An internship abroad is possible if the institution is classified as equivalent to the requirements according to the licensing regulations for psychotherapists (PsychThApprO). You can find the relevant details here. Please contact the study coordination office as early as possible if you are considering an internship abroad.
