Quality standards

Gender equality work at the University of Siegen is based on the current state of research. Regular applications for the federal and state professorship program as well as the NRW state equality program ensure the highest quality. This is complemented by the voluntary commitment to the DFG's research-oriented equality standards.

Women Professors Program 2030

Since 2007, the federal and state governments' program for female professors has been specifically promoting an increase in the proportion of female professors. The prerequisite for participation is a positively assessed gender equality concept at the university. As part of the Women Professors Program III, the university's application was approved in the 2018/2019 winter semester, and since then three women have been successfully appointed to W2/W3 professorships.

Seizing opportunities, promoting research and family - program for equal opportunity universities in North Rhine-Westphalia

In 2012, the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia initiated a funding instrument to strengthen equality and gender studies at universities with the state program "Gender Equitable University". The University of Siegen was able to successfully raise funds in the 2012 and 2015 funding phases and thus realize over one million euros for three research projects, two junior professorships and a partial denomination in gender studies from 2013 to 2018. Since then, the program has been further developed and now operates under the title "Seizing opportunities, promoting research and family - program for equal opportunity universities in NRW" (FF-Hochschulen). It supports the work of the Equal Opportunities Officers and promotes structural measures for equality at universities.

Research-oriented equality and diversity standards of the DFG

The DFG's Research-Oriented Standards on Gender Equality and Diversity define personnel and structural standards for sustainable gender equality and the promotion of diversity in the scientific and academic landscape. They have been a voluntary commitment of DFG members since 2008.
The 2022 DFG Members' Assembly resolved to expand the diversity aspect in the text of the "Research-Oriented Gender Equality Standards" in order to promote the realization of equal opportunities for all people in science, academia and research - also intersectionally.
