W1, W2 and W3 professorships
The University of Siegen grants professors a one-off lump sum for relocation costs during appointment negotiations. The prerequisite for this is that the professor is willing to relocate. This regulation is intended to ensure that only those persons receive payments who are not only willing to relocate, but who actually relocate.
The corresponding lump sum can be found in the table below.
Research associates
Research assistants who move to the University of Siegen together with their professorship also have the opportunity to apply for a lump sum for relocation costs. The lump sum can only be granted if the position was promised to the employee in the appointment negotiations and the contract has a minimum term of 3 years. Funding is provided from the budget of the appointed professorship.

Note
If the employee moves alone, the "single person's lump sum" is granted. If the partner and children also establish their main residence at the place of employment within the cut-off period and have moved, the lump sum is granted according to the actual marital status (at this time). The difference to the lump sum already paid will then be paid out. The aforementioned cut-off period continues to apply.
Requirements for the payment of the lump sum
The payment is made after the move has been completed and must be requested from the University of Siegen within a cut-off period using the appropriate form and a copy of the registration certificate.
- The new apartment must be the employee's main residence
- The previous home must not be located in the new place of employment (move-in area) - the distance between the new home and the new place of employment must be more than 30 km on a normally traveled route
- The distance between the new home and the new place of work must be spatially related - The distance between the new home and the new place of work must not be more than 30 km on a normally traveled route
Payment of a discount (max. 80% of the lump sum) is possible on request
Exclusion/repayment
If the agreed relocation does not take place within the period granted, the employee is obliged to repay the one-off payment. This also applies if the person leaves the civil servant/employment relationship with the University of Siegen before expiry after commencing employment.

Relocation from abroad
When relocating from abroad to the University of Siegen, an additional expatriation allowance is granted on top of the above-mentioned lump sums
