Education is undoubtedly one of our most valuable assets. It enables us to set clear goals after leaving school and to draw on a wealth of knowledge in order to achieve these goals. I consider the opportunity to support people on this path to be an extremely important task.
In 2019, I therefore made the decision to leave my hometown of Cologne and study to become a teacher at grammar schools and comprehensive schools, specializing in English and Catholic religion. I quickly set my sights on the University of Siegen.
Teachers will always be an indispensable and integral part of our society. At the University of Siegen, you are optimally prepared for this future. In addition to numerous NC-free subjects, it offers a broad spectrum of teaching subjects with a wide range of possible combinations. Furthermore, there is a cooperation with the German Sport University Cologne, which even makes it possible to choose sport as a school subject!
The University of Siegen is characterized by cohesion, participation and listening. Both the city and the university exude a fascinating attraction. Here you are not just a number, but are perceived as an individual personality. The lecturers are always on hand to help with questions and problems. Through the introductory and orientation internship (EOP), the professional field internship (BFP) and the practical semester (PS), you gain insights into everyday school life during your studies and gain valuable experience in the teaching profession. Through the Lernwerkstatt Lehrer*innenbildung, where I am allowed to work as a SHK myself, you have the opportunity to take advantage of numerous offers to broaden your own horizons, network and also switch off from time to time. This also includes the LehramtPLUS program, which offers exciting workshops and lectures. I can only warmly recommend studying at the university and look forward to seeing you on campus in the future!
