Your future begins in Siegen
How do we build in a changing world? Whether it's climate protection, affordable housing or sustainable mobility - as a civil engineer, you will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow. The Bachelor's degree course in Civil Engineering in Siegen will give you the know-how to plan and build responsibly and innovatively.
The part-time course is structured like a conventional Bachelor's degree. Instead of six semesters, you can extend your studies to up to twelve semesters, depending on your personal situation. You decide for yourself how many modules you take per semester - depending on how much time you can devote to your studies. You will acquire in-depth academic knowledge and remain flexible at the same time: many students work during their studies - e.g. as a working student in a company related to their subject - to finance their studies and gain practical experience. Others use the additional time for family commitments such as childcare or care duties, for voluntary work or to better reconcile their studies with health or personal challenges.
If you are studying part-time, it is advisable to have an employment contract for the duration of your studies - this creates planning security. You can apply what you have learned directly, especially in subject-related work, which makes it much easier to understand the content. Many employers offer flexible working hours or support with the course of study to ensure a good work-life balance. This combination offers you a high takeover rate and excellent career prospects afterwards.
You will learn
- the engineering fundamentals - e.g. mathematics, mechanics and surveying,
- the classic disciplines such as statics, transportation, construction management and hydraulic engineering,
- as well as current future topics such as sustainable building materials, flood protection or new mobility and traffic concepts
The course combines theory and practice - with laboratory internships, excursions and practical projects. Do you want to combine studying and vocational training? A dual study program is also possible.

Career prospects
As a civil engineer, you are in demand when it comes to the construction and use of energy-efficient buildings, when expertise is required in terms of safe infrastructure and protection against the consequences of climate change. Graduates have a wide range of opportunities, e.g. in engineering or planning offices, with construction companies, in public administration, water management or transport planning.
A Master's degree is also possible - with a focus that suits your interests and career goals. The Master of Science can be completed afterwards or even part-time. It is also possible to combine your Bachelor's and Master's degree by taking Master's modules at the end of your Bachelor's degree.
