The course content of the dual study program in computer science is identical to the bachelor's degree in computer science. Parallel to the actual studies at the university, practical work and training in a company are carried out in close coordination in order to achieve a duality between company work and academic training.
Students are employed by the company right from the start. They study during the lecture period and go through work and training phases in the company during the semester break.

A degree in computer science offers a wide range of career opportunities in various fields. However, the logical and analytical skills of computer scientists are also highly valued far beyond the traditional fields, making computer scientists some of the best-paid specialists in the world. There are many local "hidden champions" in Siegen-Wittgenstein and therefore a high potential for exciting jobs in close proximity to the university.

Close integration of theory and practice.
The opportunity to do a dual degree in computer science at the University of Siegen was the reason for me to stay in the region and pursue my studies in cooperation with a local company. Already in the first semesters, synergies were quickly created through the close interlocking of theory and practice, which then continued throughout the entire course and enriched it noticeably. The opportunity to carry out some practice-oriented modules in the company and to design them according to my area of interest in consultation with the company stood out in particular. Another plus point was the freedom of choice within the specialization and the associated opportunity to specialize in the Bachelor's degree or to broaden my focus. The coordination of a topic for the Bachelor's thesis between the department and the company also went smoothly and enabled me to graduate successfully. On this excellent basis, I was able to start my professional life without any problems and still benefit enormously from the expertise from both worlds that I gained during my studies. I am very pleased that the course is being offered in a new version and would still choose a dual degree in computer science at the University of Siegen today.

Prospective students can also search independently for companies that are not listed on the website. A support agreement (study grant) and an employment contract for study support are concluded between the company and the prospective student. A cooperation agreement between the participating company and the university is also required. You can find the template for this agreement here. The cooperation agreement must be printed out in triplicate and signed by the student and the company and sent to the following address for signature by the Registrar of the University of Siegen:
