Your future begins in Siegen
In the modern industrial environment, there is a demand for engineers who combine the mindset of both disciplines as border crossers between engineering and computer science. Since this usually begins with a different mathematical orientation, an integrated Bachelor's degree program that combines both perspectives from the outset is an advantage:
Engineering: Orientation towards physical (also dynamic) processes with differential, integral calculus and differential equations
Computer science: Discrete mathematics with combinatorics, number and graph theory, cryptography
Therefore, the University of Siegen offers the following degree programs:
- Digital Engineering - Mechatronics
- Digital Engineering - Mechanical Engineering
- Digital Engineering - Electrical Engineering
Digital Engineering - Electrical Engineering is a slightly shortened electrical engineering course supplemented by extensive computer science content.

Career prospects
The impulse study by the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) states: "Digitally networked innovation takes place at the interface between disciplines, especially between engineers and IT specialists. This requires openness and interdisciplinary understanding". The new integrated degree courses meet these challenges.
At least 8 weeks of basic work placement before the start of the course: getting to know materials and their machinability, gaining an overview of production facilities and manufacturing processes and experiencing the social side of the work process. The internship is recognized by the Internship Office, must be completed before starting the Bachelor's degree course and must be proven by the end of the 3rd semester.
At least 6 weeks of specialist internship during your studies: Supplement and deepen the knowledge acquired during your studies by working in various operational areas and an initial introduction to engineering practice.
