The "Master of Science in Chemistry" course is aimed at students who have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a subject with a similar profile. It offers a high-quality practical and theoretical chemical education at university level in accordance with the recommendations of the Society of German Chemists and, as an English-language course, provides ideal preparation for working conditions in industry. One of its special features is that both applied subjects with significance for the local economy (analytics, polymer chemistry, construction chemistry) and subjects from the classical canon lay a solid foundation for a future career. Most of the studies take place in the working groups with access to high-quality scientific equipment and excellent supervision.

Students about studying chemistry

...rather familiar atmosphere...

Due to the comparatively low number of first-year students in chemistry, there is probably a more informal atmosphere than at other universities. In my experience, this allows for much closer contact with the lecturers and professors in particular and very good supervision is guaranteed at all times, both in the lectures and tutorials and in the laboratory practicals. In addition, a small group tends to form a close-knit community in which you can help and motivate each other. I found this to be extremely important for this demanding course.

(Subject) examination regulations/study plans/module handbooks/internship regulations

(Subject) examination regulations (FPOs) define the basic structures of a degree program (e.g. admission requirements and content to be studied). Students are automatically subject to the current version of an FPO when they enrol for their first semester. This means that even if the FPO changes during the course of study, the original version according to which you enrolled is still valid (provided this FPO does not expire).
The respective study plan represents the recommended exemplary course of study in the individual subjects and is part of an FPO.
Supplementary regulations and detailed information for each module to be studied can be found in the module handbooks (e.g. requirements for taking a written examination).
The internship regulations define the conditions under which the compulsory or optional internships must be completed.

Before the start of the lecture period, we recommend that you at least take a look at the curriculum of your degree program so that you know which modules are planned for the start of your studies.
