Master of Science (M.Sc.)
The international Master's degree program in Chemistry at the University of Siegen is designed as a consecutive degree program. It builds upon the content of the Bachelor's degree program in Siegen which provides the necessary skills and knowledge for the Master program. Thus, after your application, we will evaluate your transcripts of records in order to ensure that you have the necessary skills and knowledge for the Master program. A Master of Science degree in Chemistry is awarded upon successful completion of the program.
The Master of Science degree requires a total of 120 credits. The grades and credits of the degree program are based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which guarantees a high international acceptance of the M.Sc. degree.

General Information
The Master of Science in Chemistry degree course at the University of Siegen is a two-year degree course offered to both national and international students. The courses are taught in English. We offer a research-oriented M.Sc. program with high-quality theoretical and experimental chemistry modules providing students with an excellent education. The degree course provides the possibility of research and specialization in different fields such as Analytical Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and other modern branches of chemistry.
Details of the Program
The Master's degree in Chemistry has a duration of two years, divided into four semesters. The first semester contains five compulsory modules. From the second semester onwards, students choose their elective modules according to their choice of research fields or specialization. Laboratory work is an integral part of the program from the first semester onwards. In addition to the elective modules, students strengthen their practical skills and expertise in two research internships in the third semester. The Master's thesis is scheduled for the fourth semester.
International Degree Program
A Master of Science degree in Chemistry is awarded upon successful completion of the program. The Master of Science degree requires a total of 120 credits. Admission Requirements
1. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or equivalent (with grade 2.5 or better according to ECTS).
2. Proficiency in English: TOEFL (Code No. 8429) 533 (paper-based), 200 (computer-based), 72 (internet-based); or CAE level C; or IELTS grade 6; or English on level B2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Please note that a certificate from your educational institute stating that your previous education was in English cannot be accepted instead of a language certificate.
