The Department of Chemistry and Biology introduces itself

The department currently has 17 professorships in areas including classical chemistry and biology. In addition, Siegen is known for innovative research and teaching in analytical, macromolecular and construction chemistry, as well as biochemistry, biotechnology and bioinformatics.
 
The department offers two Bachelor's degree courses in Chemistry and Digital Biomedical and Health Science and international Master's degree courses in Chemistry, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Biomedical Technology, as well as teacher training courses in Biology and Chemistry. The range of courses is rounded off by the possibility of a doctorate, usually with the degree of Dr. rer. nat.
 
The department is represented in the INCYTE research center, both in the Micro- and Nanoanalytics Facility (MNaF) and with the specially equipped S2 laboratory area.

Joint inorganic colloquium

Three working groups, many presentations with a lively exchange and an interesting supporting program contributed to a successful colloquium for three days at Burg Stahleck in Bacharach on the Rhine.

Study award for outstanding achievement

Maren Kipping from Betzdorf has been awarded the Altenkirchen District Study Prize for her master's thesis in chemistry at the University of Siegen.
