Editorial
Health research continues to gain in profile at the University of Siegen. With the establishment of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Health Research (ZiGS), expertise from various disciplines is being pooled in order to develop answers to challenges such as demographic change, digitalization and regional healthcare. In this cross-section, we report on the diversity of approaches in various research projects: from AI-supported heart diagnostics to innovative wound healing and basic biomedical projects. This shows that research at the University of Siegen not only strives for scientific excellence, but also focuses on concrete improvements for patients in the region.
In this cross-section, we also report on how commitment, creativity and community have created sustainable structures and why anniversaries are more than just looking back. The universi publishing house is 25 years old, the Information and Media Technology Center ZIMT has been in existence for 20 years and the House of Young Talents is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The anniversaries commemorate achievements, pay tribute to those involved and provide impetus for future developments at our university.
