Among the programs offered by the Haus der Wissenschaft are the public lecture series “Forum Siegen” and the “Mittwochsakademie,” a community study program. At Poetry@Rubens—the reading series organized by Faculty I in cooperation with the Apollo Theater—renowned authors are invited twice a year (alternating between poetry and prose).
The Christa and Dieter Lange Foundation funds two additional reading series—YoungPoetry and InternationalPoetry (bilingual). The Siegen Children’s University has also found a home under the HDW’s umbrella. Twice a year—in March and September—four events are offered for girls and boys between the ages of eight and twelve, all centered around a common theme.
The “Haus der Wissenschaft” guides, advises, and supports these initiatives in program design, organization, administration, public relations, and marketing, and develops new event formats. This includes “Saturdays at 12”—a diverse lineup of events centered on knowledge and science, held at the best time for Siegen’s market.

HDW offers PC support
Computers are ubiquitous in many areas of life. Writing emails, online banking, using apps—the possibilities are endless. Things don’t always go smoothly, and not everyone is a “digital native” or familiar with software and technology.
The House of Science is therefore offering a new support service. On the first Wednesday of every month, a student employee will be available at the House of Science at the University of Siegen (Villa Sauer), Obergraben 23, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to provide straightforward assistance with minor—and possibly even major—issues using a PC or cell phone. Just stop by, or contact the HDW office in advance—Ms. Karin Gipperich, phone: 0271-7402689, email: karin.gipperich@uni-siegen.de.
The next available consultation date is June 3, 2026.
.
Additional dates in 2026: July 1, September 2, October 7, November 4, and December 2, 2026
