Department 1.1 Occupational health and safety

Our tasks

  • Advising the management, specialist managers and employees of the University of Siegen on all matters relating to occupational health and safety.
  • Supporting the management in the implementation of occupational health and safety legislation applicable to the University of Siegen.
  • Position of the University's fire safety officer.
  • Coordination of health protection/health promotion.
  • Implementation and coordination of tasks
    • in accordance with §6 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act between the department management and the Occupational Health Center (AMZ) as well as the authorities responsible for occupational health and safety, e.g. the occupational health and safety administration of the Arnsberg district government.
    • arising from the Radiation Protection Ordinance and the X-Ray Ordinance.
    • relating to legal regulations in fire protection matters.

Language café

The language café is not just for playing games together, but also for talking about personal matters, culture or regional studies, with the language café team providing moderation and support.

Language learning tandem

Language learning in tandem is a form of autonomous and intercultural learning. Language learning tandems offer the opportunity to improve your foreign language skills in contact with first language speakers and gain intercultural insights at the same time. You can also choose your own topics in your own area of interest and work specifically on certain skills.

Literature management

Whether it's a term paper, thesis or dissertation - writing academic papers is an essential part of studying in all disciplines. Reference management programs provide support for literature research and management as well as for structuring and organizing knowledge.

Mass payment (on the credit side)

For similar payments in larger quantities, such as expense allowances for students or the reimbursement of semester fees, there is no need to fill out individual receipts. The posting can be made conveniently in table form. If required, please contact the SAP key users Sonja Kölsch (-4811) or Andrea Albrecht-Ettler (-5031) to discuss the exact procedure!

Media equipment in seminar rooms and lecture halls

Many seminar rooms and lecture halls at the university's various locations are equipped with network-compatible presentation and media technology for digital teaching.

All control systems are configured for standard lecture operation after connecting notebooks. The systems in the Audimax, in the so-called "colorful lecture halls" AR and in the auditorium PB also allow differentiated multimedia operation or, if required, special events with personnel support from the ZIMT lecture hall service.

Some rooms also offer the option of holding video conferences.

Moodle learning management system

Moodle is the University of Siegen's central digital learning management system for organizing and integrating online and classroom teaching.

Movie nights

In cooperation with the International Office, the Language Center offers international film evenings several times a semester. You can watch exciting films from all over the world and improve your foreign language skills in an entertaining way at the same time.
