Department 1.1 Occupational health and safety

Our tasks

  • Advising the management, specialist managers and employees of the University of Siegen on all matters relating to occupational health and safety.
  • Supporting the management in the implementation of occupational health and safety legislation applicable to the University of Siegen.
  • Position of the University's fire safety officer.
  • Coordination of health protection/health promotion.
  • Implementation and coordination of tasks
    • in accordance with §6 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act between the department management and the Occupational Health Center (AMZ) as well as the authorities responsible for occupational health and safety, e.g. the occupational health and safety administration of the Arnsberg district government.
    • arising from the Radiation Protection Ordinance and the X-Ray Ordinance.
    • relating to legal regulations in fire protection matters.

Firewall

German/English

Network access between different services of the University of Siegen is generally restricted by a firewall (or sometimes access control lists). This is important for security by preventing unauthorized access. Individual access can be enabled with specific firewall rules.

French

The Language Center offers French courses for various proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners. The courses develop oral and written language skills and prepare students for their studies, exams, or stays abroad. In addition, students have the opportunity to earn the UNIcert® certificate.

German as a Foreign Language

In the area of German as a Foreign Language (DaF), the Language Center offers a wide range of courses for international students, doctoral candidates, and staff. These include semester-long language courses from A1 to C1, intensive courses, and specialized language courses. The courses teach both basic language skills and subject-specific competencies, helping learners navigate the academic environment successfully in German.

German as a Foreign Language (DaF) Counseling Services

The Language Center offers individualized counseling services for all learners of German as a foreign language. These include writing counseling, which provides support in composing texts, as well as language learning counseling, which teaches methods and strategies for effective German language learning.

GitLab

GitLab is a non-commercial platform for version control and collaboration in research and education that enables the joint development, management, and documentation of projects, as well as the tracking of changes.

Housing

German/English

Housing is offered to research groups of the university's faculties as well as working groups of its central facilities. It includes the installation of a server in university's data center. The operation of the server however is still under the responsibility of the owner.

The Central Information Desk is the first point of contact for all questions relating to the library and its services.

Inner university network (LAN)

The ZIMT manages the university's inner network by operating network hardware and patching network sockets.
