Chair of Transport Planning and Mobility

In research, teaching and projects, we focus on needs-based and safe traffic planning and different forms of mobility.

In our Bachelor's and Master' s modules, we impart knowledge about traffic planning, road design and state-of-the-art road traffic engineering.

In research , we work on practical problems and use modern research methods.

In projects and expert reports, we evaluate relevant issues against the background of the state of the art from a technical perspective.

Our research profile

The Chair of Traffic Planning and Mobility focuses its research on road design, traffic safety and traffic flow, both for urban traffic facilities and for rural roads and highways. In the area of non-urban roads, the focus is on safe and efficient solutions. The aim in the design of urban streetscapes is to make them people-friendly, safe and sustainable for our lives in the cities and communities of tomorrow, particularly by incorporating modern forms of mobility. At the same time, an acceptable level of mobility must be ensured and necessary commercial traffic must be reliably facilitated. By modeling and evaluating structural measures and traffic management with regard to their impact on traffic quality and reliability, the traffic of tomorrow should be designed to be compatible and energy-efficient.

Main areas of research

  • Safe cross-sections and junctions of rural roads
  • Compatible coexistence on urban roads
  • Methods of quality assessment
  • Floating-Car-Data (FCD)
