Volume 5: The state engineering school for construction in Siegen
Eva von Engelberg-Dočkal, Petra Lohmann (ed.)
Siegen 2026
This volume is dedicated to the Siegen State School of Civil Engineering as one of the first educational buildings on Haardter Berg. Built between 1965 and 1967 by the architects Friedrich Wilhelm Bertram and Elmar Lang (Aachen), winners of the 1962 competition, it forms the core of today's Paul-Bonatz-Straße campus.
The introduction deals with the school building in the context of the planned development of Haardter Berg with its specific combination of educational buildings and residential areas. In his contribution, Thomas Schiffmann reconstructs the original appearance of the engineering school using numerous historical photographs and presents the design qualities of the architecture and interior design for the first time.
The publication is available in print from bookshops and digitally via the Opus server of the University of Siegen.
