GitLab groups

Groups can be used to create and organize teams in GitLab.

If several users are to work together on different projects, it makes sense to assign users to groups. More complex structures such as groups within groups can also be created, for example to map a research institution. With groups, projects can be continued more easily, even if employees leave.

Groups can be used to recreate and organize teams in GitLab. By differentiating between top-level and sub-level groups, organizational structures can be separated from each other. A top-level group is intended for the highest administrative unit.

Group names from the University of Siegen begin with the prefix: USI-

To obtain a top-level group and become its owner, please open a ticket by writing an e-mail to:

support@zimt.uni-siegen.de

At least two owners should administer a top-level group. If a top-level group already exists for your institution, please inform yourself within your institution and contact the group owners to request a sub-level group.
