Information about the ZFH

As ZFH , we make a central contribution to the development and strengthening of qualified teaching skills and see ourselves as an integral part of academic staff development in teaching and research. Our aim is to support lecturers in shaping their role in a professional, reflective and future-oriented manner.

In doing so, we address socio-political developments that are trend-setting for academic education. Topics such as digitalization, diversification or education for sustainable development and the associated changes are incorporated into our work and shape the continuous development of university teaching.

The Advisory Board

For different perspectives

The Advisory Board brings together different perspectives in order to identify needs, develop recommendations and actively support the further development of the Center for Academic Teaching. Its recommendations are forwarded to the Prorectorates and, if necessary, to the Rector.

It is made up of students, academic staff, representatives of the Schools, the Center for Teacher Training and Educational Research, an external expert and the Executive Director as an advisory member - this ensures balanced and practical advice.

Articles of Association

Since February 2019, the Center for Academic Teaching (ZFH) has been organized as a central operating unit. With the statutes adopted by the (University) Senate, the final step in the restructuring of the University of Siegen's competence center was successfully completed - a milestone for the further development of our university teaching.

Projects

ORCA.nrw

The portal is currently operated jointly in a network by a total of 42 public universities of applied sciences, universities and state colleges of art and music sponsored by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

ORCA.nrw provides openly licensed and quality-assured teaching and learning resources, so-called Open Educational Resources (OER), and services for teachers and students. Teachers and students can find open teaching and learning material, further information and support services here.

dime:US

dime:US was a project at the University of Siegen funded by the Foundation for Innovation in University Teaching and carried out under the direction of the Prorectorates for Studies, Teaching and Quality Management. The aim of the project was the sustainable development of a digital teaching and learning culture at the entire university - with the involvement of teachers, students, service facilities and university administration. To this end, support services and advisory structures were set up both centrally and at faculty level, which were geared towards the quality characteristics of competence orientation and student-centricity.

HD@DH.nrw

HD@DH.nrw was a joint project of 13 universities in North Rhine-Westphalia under the leadership of the University of Siegen. This project supported teachers in meeting the challenges of digitalization in university teaching and developing their teaching accordingly. It was divided into four modules: synchronous and asynchronous. training courses, a community of practice for teachers to share their experiences, a pool of experts ("Flying Experts") to provide specialists in the field of digital teaching and a team for evaluation and quality management. The European Framework for the Digital Competence of Teachers (DigCompEdu) formed the basis for all offers.
