The most important information
on recognitions and changing universities
Upon application, coursework and examinations completed in other degree programmes and/or at other universities can be recognized in the Bachelor's degree programme in Psychology at the University of Siegen, provided that equivalence is given. Equivalence is established if the coursework and examinations are essentially equivalent in content, scope and requirements to those of the Bachelor's degree program in Psychology at the University of Siegen.
Procedure:
- The Application for Recognition of Achievementsform
is completed and submitted to the study coordination office together with other documents required for recognition.
Documents:
" Certificates of achievement/performance overviews from the university (transcript of records, certificate, etc.)
" Excerpts from the study regulations/examination regulations (only the achievements made)
" Excerpts from the module handbook (only the achievements made)
" Term papers/Bachelor's thesis/examinations
(submit certificates of achievement as certified copies or submit normal copies + original for visual inspection) - The documents are forwarded to the respective module coordinators.
- The module coordinators make a recommendation for recognition.
- The responsible examination board decides on recognition.
- The Examinations Office informs the student of the result of the recognition and, if applicable, records the recognized achievements.
Change of university/cross-entry
If you have completed a large amount of coursework in another degree program or at another university, you can have this recognized and be placed in a higher semester of the Psychology degree program at the University of Siegen. The procedure is similar to that described above.
Please note that a higher placement procedure will only be reviewed if there is free capacity in a higher semester. Your documents will therefore be checked in September for the winter semester or in March for the summer semester at the earliest.
If capacity is available in a higher semester, the number of credit points that can be recognized and the higher semester for which you can be placed will be checked. We will send you the information about the recognized credits as well as a notification of upgrading by post. The notification of upgrading must be submitted to the Registrar's Office when you enrol.
Please note the respective deadlines of the Registrar's Office for enrolment in a higher semester. Once the applicable deadlines have expired, no further upgrading notifications will be issued.
