Semester abroad
Stays abroad
During your studies in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mechatronics at the University of Siegen (especially in the Master's program), you have the opportunity to study abroad or gain international work experience. The University of Siegen offers funding opportunities for the following stays:
- Erasmus+ program: study, internship or short-term mobility in Europe
- Global Exchange: Study at partner universities outside Europe
We are currently establishing relationships with foreign universities in order to achieve a smooth integration of the exchange semester into your studies at the University of Siegen. The University of Siegen is a member of ATHENA European University, a transnational alliance that aims to achieve long-term structural and strategic cooperation and develop a joint research and education program at the participating European locations.
Erasmus+ studies
Students of electrical engineering, computer science and mechatronics have the opportunity to study for one or two semesters at partner universities, e.g. in Bulgaria, Greece, France, Italy, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia or Spain. With the exchange place, students also receive Erasmus funding. You can find more information on the Erasmus website of the International Office.
A complete list of all partner universities and the respective contact persons (subject coordinators) for your degree program can be found here: https://siegen.adv-pub.moveon4.de/stay-search/
Erasmus+ internship
Internships abroad are also possible. The Erasmus+ program can be used to fund self-procured internships lasting between 60 and 360 days in a participating program country within Europe.
Further information can be found on the Erasmus website of the International Office.
Erasmus+ short-term mobilities
Erasmus+ short-term mobilities are available for students who would like to go abroad for less than one semester. Our ATHENA partner universities regularly offer short programs, so-called Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs) abroad, which can be funded via Erasmus+. Further information can be found on the Erasmus website on short-term mobilities.
ATHENA Summer & Winter Schools
Regular summer and winter schools are also offered via the ATHENA alliance. Information on ATHENA and other forms of mobility can be found at https://www.uni-siegen.de/zew/athena/offers/index.html.en?lang=en and https://athenauni.eu/.
For details on cooperation, please contact Prof. Peter Haring-Bolivar or Prof. Kristof Van Laerhoven at any time.
