The teacher education program at the University of Siegen consists of a six-semester bachelor’s degree followed by a four-semester master’s degree, regardless of the teaching specialization. From the outset, subject-specific studies are closely integrated with subject didactics and educational sciences, ensuring a comprehensive and practice-oriented approach to teacher preparation.

Familiar atmosphere
I chose to pursue my teaching degree for vocational colleges at the University of Siegen in 2019, having been captivated by the English language since my school years. I was drawn to its phonetics, linguistics, and literature, and I wanted to share this passion with future students.
I did still need to pick my second subject specialization. After careful research, I ultimately decided to study Catholic religion, which I very much enjoyed from the start. Because the University of Siegen allows for a wide range of potential combinations of subjects, I could combine the two without any problem. What's more, many of the subjects have no admission restrictions. You can even study sport if you wish, thanks to the cooperation between the University of Siegen and the German Sport University Cologne.
In my first semester, I quickly noticed the genuine sense of community here. As a student, you are not just reduced to your matriculation number, but are perceived and valued as an individual personality.
Studying at the University of Siegen has been an incredibly supportive experience. From day one, I knew I could rely on various campus services for guidance with study plans or coursework. At the Lernwerkstatt Lehrerinnenbildung, where I also work as a student assistant, I’ve been part of a team that is always ready to listen and help fellow students. On top of that, through the LehramtPLUS program, I’ve been able to take part in inspiring workshops and lectures that have helped me build new skills and grow both academically and professionally.
Practical training is built into the program at every stage. The aptitude and orientation internship, professional field internship, and practical semester allow you to develop skills and insight through direct experience in school environments.
I wholeheartedly recommend the University of Siegen as a place to study and look forward to greeting new students on campus.
