Students at the University of Siegen receive a digital student and library card, which is available in the University of Siegen app. Here are the most important questions and answers about the cards.

FAQ - Student and library card

To use the digital student ID, all you need to do is register with your university access data in the Uni Siegen app. When you enrol or re-register for the new semester, the student ID card is automatically stored in the app.

The ID card contains the student's name, date of birth, matriculation number and ESI number (European Student Identifier). The ID card also has a hologram and an animation.

A photo can optionally be added. This can be done directly in the app. The image is saved locally on the respective end device. This should be noted if several devices are to be used.

Yes, this is possible. To use the digital library card, a one-time activation at the university library is required. If the USiCard is already activated for library use, it can continue to be used until exmatriculation. When the app is activated for library use, the USiCard or a previous library card becomes invalid. No, the Deutschland-Semesterticket is available via the VWS ticket app. Instructions for activating the ticket can be found here:

The app is available for Android
and Apple. To register, all students of the University of Siegen will receive an e-mail with an activation code from the VWS. The student e-mail address must be activated for receipt.

The transmission of the ticket in the app may take a few days!

The Deutschland-Semesterticket is included in the semester fee. The Deutschland-Semesterticket is valid for students during the semester on all local trains such as RB, RE and S-Bahn trains (SPNV) and also on public transport such as buses, streetcars, subway trains etc. (ÖPNV) throughout Germany.

With the introduction of the Deutschlandsemesterticket on April 1, 2024, the USiCard will no longer be valid as a semester ticket and will no longer be issued. However, holders of a USiCard can still use it to identify themselves as students at the University of Siegen. After activation, the USiCard can also be used as a library card until exmatriculation.

People who work in different functions at the University of Siegen usually have two ZIMT accounts, e.g. a student account and an account as an employee. It is important to use the ZIMT ID of the student account when registering in the Uni Siegen app, otherwise the student ID will not be stored in the app.
