"Darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream"
Stories have explained the sky to us, taken away our fear of the dark, imagined space travel long before the first rocket was built. Stories teach us how to live, how to love. They organize experiences, create meaning, in short: they are essential for communities. They often center on heroes who fight for something, confront adversaries and are willing to risk everything.
The lecture examines the different media narratives about Taylor Swift as a pop star, underdog and feminist icon, and shows which narratives underlie these stories. Linked to this is the fundamental consideration: Do stars become heroes through narrative attributions - or do heroine narratives shape our perception of stars?
The event will take place in Unteres Schloss, Room: C-109 (US-C 109)
