The thesis is a complex writing task that requires you to draw on numerous academic writing skills, which you have acquired to varying degrees during your studies. It is therefore perfectly normal that you are now facing a number of challenges at different levels in connection with your thesis. Whether you’re just beginning the planning phase of your thesis or have already written a few chapters, this workshop is designed to help you stay on track and structure your individual writing process so that you can move purposefully and with motivation from your initial idea all the way to the submission of your thesis.
In the first step, we’ll explore the writing process and different types of writing, giving you the opportunity to reflect on the resources you already have. After that, we’ll focus first on general writing project planning, before you can tackle the challenges that are most important to you right now in the final session by choosing from a selection of possible focus areas, such as formulating a research question, narrowing down the topic, checking the coherence within a section, or reviewing the overall structure of your paper.
