LehrkräftePLUS: How Ukrainian teachers succeed in returning to work"That's why I'm constantly learning German and have set myself the goal of working as a teacher in Germany." Harnessing the potential of Ukrainian and other immigrant teachers for the North Rhine-Westphalian school system - that is one of the goals of the LehrkräftePLUS program at the University of Siegen. As part of the program, which is carried out at the university's Centre for Teacher Training and Educational Research, the participating teachers spend a year preparing intensively for their return to teaching. Inna Kotliar and Maryna Pohribna, who both come from Ukraine, talk about their experiences with LehrkräftePLUS Siegen and their return to work in interviews with Deutschlandfunk (DLF). In the DLF magazine from 12.06.2026, the contribution that LehrkräftePLUS makes to the successful professional integration of immigrant teachers is then examined from various perspectives and different actors have their say. The DLF report is available here: |

Thinking ahead in teacher training: ZLB and regional team for in-service training strengthen cooperationZLB meeting with the Arnsberg district government and the South Westphalia regional training team Renewing and strengthening the existing cooperation - with this goal in mind, the ZLB met with representatives of the Arnsberg district government and the South Westphalia regional team for in-service training. The current occasion was the further development of state teacher training in NRW, in which universities are to play a more important role in the future. The ZLB had already concluded a cooperation agreement with the Siegen-Wittgenstein Teacher Training Competence Team in 2022, which laid the foundation for more in-depth cooperation in teacher training. Numerous events have taken place as part of this cooperation in recent years. In particular, the joint specialist days on current topics in teacher training, such as education in the digital world, have been very well received. This successful collaboration is now to be continued and expanded with the newly established regional training teams. The cooperation agreement is also to be rethought and expanded. All those involved emphasized that the close link between training and in-service training will continue to be a central building block for the joint further development of teacher training in the future. The cooperation between the ZLB, the Arnsberg district government and the South Westphalia regional training team provides an effective framework for this. |
