FAQ - Student and Library ID Cards

To use the digital student ID, all you need to do is register using your university login credentials in the University of Siegen app. Once you enroll or re-enroll for the new semester, your student ID will automatically be added to the app.

The ID card includes the name, date of birth, matriculation number, and ESI number (European Student Identifier). It also features a hologram and an animation.

You can optionally add a photo. You can do this directly in the app. The image is saved locally on the respective device. Please keep this in mind if you plan to use multiple devices.

Yes, that is possible. To use the digital library card, you must activate it once at the University Library. If your USiCard has already been activated for library use, you can continue to use it until you withdraw from the university. Once the app is activated for library use, the USiCard or any previous library card becomes invalid. Information on applying for a library card and on the activation process can be found on the University Library’s website.

No, the Germany Semester Ticket is not included with the digital student ID. This page contains all the information about the ticket.

The student ID card and the certificate of enrollment can be downloaded in PDF format on unisono under “My Studies” -> “Student Services” -> the “Notices/Certificates” tab.

With the introduction of the Germany Semester Ticket on April 1, 2024, the USiCard will no longer be valid as a semester ticket and will no longer be issued. However, USiCard holders can continue to use it to identify themselves as students at the University of Siegen. Once activated, the USiCard can also be used as a library card until the student withdraws from the university. 

People who hold various positions at the University of Siegen typically have two ZIMT accounts, such as a student account and an employee account. It is important to use the ZIMT ID for your student account when logging into the University of Siegen app; otherwise, your student ID card will not be stored in the app.
