Rethinking International History? Epistemological, Methodological, and Normative Challenges in the Context of Global Upheavals

Roundtable Discussion

What challenges does international history face in light of current global upheavals and dynamics?

schematische darstellung menschen auf balkengrafik

This panel discussion will address the scholarly challenges facing the subdiscipline of international history, challenges that arise not least due to current international conflicts and intensifying global competition. The goal is to address these issues and reflect on the current challenges and opportunities facing international history, as well as how it should (re)position itself in relation to related fields of research. This will also involve examining international history from multiple perspectives—geographical, temporal, and thematic—in order to break away from the previous focus on Eurocentric and modern-era perspectives. Panelists: Prof. Dr. Claudia Kraft (University of Vienna), Prof. Dr. Gregor Weber (University of Augsburg), Prof. Dr. Indravati Félicité-Hiltl (FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg).
