Teacher Well-being and Whole-Person Learning: A Yukon First Nations Perspective
Speaker: Däkäl’ama, Jocelyn Joe-Strack
Däkäl’ama, Jocelyn Joe-Strack, is a Yukon First Nations scientist, storyteller, artist, and visionary. Her work aims to evolve current theory-based approaches to education through whole-person learning—to build confidence, skill, and inner knowing. Jocelyn will share stories and songs and create an immersive experience where participants will not only learn about these approaches but also engage with them during the session.
In the context of teacher education, the session invites us to explore what whole-person learning can offer for teacher well-being: How can educators nurture their own sense of connection, confidence, and inner knowing, and how might this shape the way they teach and relate to others? The session offers a space to experience and reflect on these questions rather than approaching well-being as a purely theoretical concept.
