vielSeitig: European Literature Festival 2026

From November 5 to 8, 2026, the eighth edition of the European Literature Festival “vielSeitig” will take place in cafes and bars throughout Siegen, as well as at the Kulturhaus Lÿz. The event is organized by the Kultur!Büro of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district and the University of Siegen.

On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, there will also be a post-festival discussion with Barbara Yelin.

What can we expect?

During this time, Siegen once again transforms into a stage for literature in all its forms. The festival brings together prominent voices and literary discoveries, classic readings and extraordinary productions, and historical themes with the questions of our time.

In addition to three student-organized readings (including “Love ‘n’ Story”: A reading with Inka Lindberg and Christina Kaspar on Saturday evening at the Apollo) and a reading with Volker Wissing—moderated by Niels Werber on Sunday—at the Volksbank, we’d like to highlight two events in particular:

On Saturday, November 7, the multi-award-winning comic book author Bianca Schaalburg will read at the Student Services Center (F-S 002) on Sandstraße from her new graphic novel *Emma & Amir*, a thrilling political comic set between Berlin and Paris that follows the trail of an international right-wing populist conspiracy.

As a follow-up to the festival, Jana Mikota and Daniel Stein will host a workshop discussion on November 11 with the equally multi-award-winning comic artist Barbara Yelin about female characters in her graphic novels, including *Irmina*, *Emmie Arbel*, and *Die Giehse*. This event will take place at the Unteres Schloss Campus / Lecture Hall Center C (US-C 105).
