BA 30 - Advanced Membranes | MA 10 - Advanced Membranes
Summer Semester
Membranes are tension-loaded materials consisting of thin textiles or films that allow for short construction times and quick installation. They are used, for example, in large-scale canopies, tents, or facades. Due to their flexibility, membranes adapt to different boundary conditions and deform in response to applied loads.
In the BA 30 – Advanced Membranes | MA 10 – Advanced Membranes module, these materials will first be explained in a theoretical section, the structural boundary conditions will be analyzed, and their potential applications will be examined using real-world examples.
In the practical section, the task involves designing various membrane structures and implementing them in a model. This is followed by documentation. The goal of this elective module is to understand the membrane as a structural element and, through practical implementation, to gain another design option.
