Building materials laboratory

Fresh concrete is produced using a 70-liter and a 180-liter synchronized compulsory mixer, both of which are also suitable for mixing ultra-high-strength concrete. In addition to the usual small equipment, a vibrating table, internal vibrator, bridge saw and grinding and sawing equipment are available for processing the fresh concrete and finishing the concrete test specimens.

The equipment for testing building materials and components includes the following devices:

Testing machines for building materials testing

  • servo-hydraulic compression testing machine (static) with 4000 kN maximum load
  • servo-hydraulic compression testing machine (static) with 300 kN maximum load
  • servo-hydraulic bending testing machine (static) with 100 kN maximum load

Testing machines for component testing

  • Electromechanical tensile and compression testing machine (static) with 400 kN maximum load
  • Servo-hydraulic bending testing machine (static) with 400 kN maximum load

The servo-hydraulic bending testing machine with a maximum load of 400 kN allows load tests to be carried out on components up to 7.00 m in length.

In addition, several manually controllable hydraulic lifting devices (hollow piston cylinders) with maximum loads between 200 kN and 600 kN are available. These can be used in combination with the existing testing machines for multi-axial tests or combined to create individual, smaller test set-ups. Mobile use outside the building materials laboratory, e.g. for in-situ load tests, is also possible.
