For us, design is neither a question of style nor a mere solution to a problem. It is a practice guided by knowledge - an operative form of thinking in which perception, theory and construction are inextricably intertwined. Design is not the result of an idea, but its medium. It organizes knowledge spatially and generates new insights in the process.
Our design methodology understands architecture as a discursive discipline. Form is created through precise placement within an order. Every line, every joint, every proportion is a decision. The design operates between analysis and projection, rule and deviation. It is procedure and conscious variation. It is work on the resistance of place, material and history.
Architecture asserts its own logic in the face of acceleration, image production and economic abbreviation. Its substance lies in spatial and constructive order as a carrier of cultural meaning.
Every architectural work is based on a structural order - effective as a system of measurement, proportion, typology and tectonic logic. Designing means uncovering this order and transforming it into a consistent spatial structure. Intensity arises where construction and thought interpenetrate each other.
Methodically, we operate with reduction, scaling, seriality, folding and montage as instruments of cognition. They specify order, shift scales, structure repetition, transform surface into space and combine heterogeneous elements into coherent structures. In this way, they sharpen the eye for relations between part and whole, detail and city, figure and field.
In the studio, plans, models and drawings function as classic design media. Supplemented by references from art, film and philosophy, architecture unfolds in an exchange with cultural discourses. Representation is not an image, but an argument; every drawing formulates a thesis, every model a spatial position.
Design is a cultural practice with a social impact. Architecture organizes perception, movement and encounters and shapes the conditions of coexistence. Precision is therefore not an aesthetic decision, but a form of responsibility.
Atelier Dilan Vural stands for structural clarity, disciplined openness and intellectual density.
Designing means developing a form that is sustainable.
