BIP Step-by-step
Application & Admission to a BIP
Our partner universities offer Blended Intensive Programs (BIP) from time to time. If you are interested in one of the current programs, you must apply through the partner university. Please be sure to follow the partner university’s guidelines regarding required documents and deadlines!
Application for the Erasmus+ grant
If you are accepted into a BIP abroad, you must apply for Erasmus+ funding through our International Office at least 4 weeks before the start of the BIP. Your application will be reviewed. If you meet the requirements, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and instructions on how to submit the necessary documents.
Documents & 1st instalment
Students and doctoral candidates participating inan exchangethe Erasmus+ program must document their stay in accordance with EU regulations. Please submit the required documents to us via email. You will then receive your grant agreement, followed by your first installment (70% of the planned funding).
Documents & 2nd instalment
After successfully completing the BIP, you must resubmit the required documents to confirm your successful participation in the program. Once all documents have been submitted, you will receive your second installment.
How to apply
Find a suitable Blended Intensive Program
Our partner universities send us information about Blended Intensive Programs (BIP) from time to time. We then post this information on our website.
This gives you an overview of the programs currently available. Participation is subject to the specified requirements and deadlines.
You can view current offers (if available) by clicking the link below.
You have received admission to a BIP?
To participate in most Blended Intensive Programs (BIPs), you must apply directly to the respective partner university. You can find all the important information about the application process in the program descriptions.
Once you have been accepted by the partner university for a BIP, you can then apply to us for Erasmus+ funding. Important: Acceptance by the partner university does not automatically mean that you will also receive Erasmus funding. Therefore, a separate application to us is required.
Apply for Erasmus+ funding!
Once you have been accepted to a BIP abroad, contact our BIP coordinator Madeleine Höfer at least 4 weeks prior to the start of the program and submit your online application via MoveON Outgoing Portal.
1. Letter of Acceptance
2. Certificate of Enrolment (unisono)
3. CV
Good to know:
Current regulation
You are eligible for funding to participate in a maximum of two BIPs per academic year.
You are eligible for funding a maximum of four times per degree program
Further rules
First-time mobilities are funded before second, third, or fourth mobilities, provided there is sufficient funding!
If you are applying for funding for an additional BIP, you must have fully documented and completed all previous stays funded by Erasmus+!
Only BIPs offered within the Erasmus+ program and have a clear academic connection to your current studies at the University of Siegen are eligible for funding.
Important documents
If your Blended Intensive Program meets the formal and academic requirements, you are eligible for Erasmus+ funding. To participate and receive the funding, you must also submit all required program documents by the deadline.
For your BIP to be eligible for funding, the following conditions must be met:
- The program is organized by a partner university
- The physical stay lasts between 5 and 30 days
- You successfully complete both the virtual component and the on-site phase
- You receive at least 3 ECTS credits for the entire stay (virtual and on-site)
Before the stay
Documents required for your first installment
Only students enrolled at the University of Siegen are eligible to participate in the Erasmus+ program. A current certificate of enrollment confirms your student status and must be generated via unisono.
The language placement test via Online Language Support (OLS) is mandatory for stay with a duration of more than 14 days! You must take the test for your main language of instruction abroad via the eu|academy platform (unless you are a native speaker). Once you have completed the test, you can download a certificate.
The Declaration on Honor is required if you wish to apply for additional funding such as a Social Top-up or Green Travel. Please submit a scanned copy of the hand-signed Declaration on Honor and keep the original on file in case of a future audit.
You will receive an acceptance letter for your Blended Intensive Program from the partner university.
Since a BIP consists of a mandatory virtual component and an physical component, your Letter of Acceptance must include the dates for both parts of the program. We need this information to calculate the planned grant amount.
The Online Learning Agreement (OLA) is created using a dedicated online form on the MoveON Outgoing Portal. In this form you list all courses you plan to take abroad (at least 3 ECTS per BIP) and the corresponding modules or module components of your degree program for later recognition at the University of Siegen. The OLA must be digitally approved by you, the designated OLA Contact at the University of Siegen, and the designated contact person at the partner university.
After your stay
Documents required for your second installment
The Confirmation of Stay must be completed by the partner university on the last day of your Erasmus+ BIP or later, and must include the actual start and end dates of your academic stay.
Confirmation of Stay
The Transcript of Records includes all courses and credits you have taken and/or completed abroad. The document is issued by the partner university and is usually sent to students via e-mail.
If you do not complete both components (virtual and physical component) and/or do not complete at least 3 ECTS, we reserve the right to reclaim (a portion of) the grant that has already been paid out. For further information check our Erasmus+ Grant website.
After completing your Erasmus+ studies, you must submit an application for recognition at your examination office along with a copy of your transcript of records and learning agreement. Once all credits have been recorded, your current List of Achievements (unisono) will serve as proof of recognition.
