A semester at the Sapienza University

"Looking back, my Erasmus semester in Rome was an amazing and transformative experience. The most positive aspects were undoubtedly the people I met and the cultural immersion. Connecting with individuals from so many different backgrounds gave me a fresh perspective on both my personal life and my future career in computer science.Overall, my assessment is overwhelmingly positive. I highly recommend the Erasmus program and Sapienza University to any student at the University of Siegen. It is a fantastic way to step out of your comfort zone, gain international experience, and make memories that will last a lifetime."

A semester at the University of Borås

"I really enjoyed my time in Borås and used the semester to get out and about a lot. You should know, though, that it’s a very small town—there isn’t much going on there. I chose it mainly so I could spend a lot of time in nature. The lakes Kypesjön and Pickesjön, as well as the surrounding forests and Rya Asar, are very close by and beautiful in every season. You can go for a run, take lots of
hikes (see AllTrails), swim in the lakes, or visit the sauna at Kypesjön. [...] All in all, I can recommend an Erasmus stay to anyone - you’ll meet lots of great people and have unique experiences!"

Before your Erasmus+ studies

Documents required for your first installment

Only students enrolled at the University of Siegen are eligible to participate in the Erasmus+ program. A current certificate of enrollment confirms your student status and must be generated via unisono.

The language placement test via Online Language Support (OLS) is mandatory! You must take the test for your main language of instruction abroad via the eu|academy platform (unless you are a native speaker). Once you have completed the test, you can download a certificate.

The Declaration on Honor is required if you wish to apply for additional funding such as a Social Top-up or Green Travel. Please submit a scanned copy of the hand-signed Declaration on Honor and keep the original on file in case of a future audit.

If your application for admission is successful, you will receive an acceptance letter from the partner university via email. This letter of acceptance includes the planned start and end date. We use these dates to calculate the planned grant amount.

The Online Learning Agreement (OLA) is created using a dedicated online form on the MoveON Outgoing Portal. In this form you list all courses you plan to take abroad (at least 15 ECTS per semester) and the corresponding modules or module components of your degree program for later recognition at the University of Siegen. The OLA must be digitally approved by you, the designated OLA Contact at the University of Siegen, and the designated contact person at the partner university.

After your Erasmus+ studies

Documents required for your second installment

The Confirmation of Stay must be completed by the partner university on the last day of your Erasmus+ studies or later, and must include the actual start and end dates of your academic stay.

The Transcript of Records includes all courses and credits you have taken and/or completed abroad. The document is issued by the partner university and is usually sent to students via e-mail.

This survey from the European Commission is mandatory. A link will be automatically sent to your student e-mail address on the planned end date (as specified in the Grant Agreement). Once you have completed the survey, you can generate a time-stamped PDF copy.

The testimonial should be 1 to 2 pages long and should include information on the planning and preparation of your Erasmus+ studies as well as your experiences. Tips on housing, life abroad, and course offer will help future Erasmus+ students choose a suitable partner university.

After completing your Erasmus+ studies, you must submit an application for recognition at your examination office along with a copy of your transcript of records and learning agreement. Once all credits have been recorded, your current List of Achievements (unisono) will serve as proof of recognition.
