Welcome to the website of the Computer Science Examinations Office.
We are here to advise and assist you with any questions regarding exams and the organizational aspects of your studies.
News from the Computer Science Examinations Office
- Starting in the Winter/Spring semester 26/27, completion of the course (4INFMA001-S) in the master’s module “Scientific Work” is a prerequisite for admission to the exam (4INFMA001-P) and thus for participation in the seminar.
The coursework must be completed as part of the block course 43CGM1140V “Guide to Scientific Working” (offered annually in late February/early March). - Please note that the university-wide rule regarding free attempts (§12a RPO) does not apply to Computer Science. Computer Science has its own regulations; see §10a FPO or the program guide (further down on this page).
- Please note that medical certificates must be signed by the doctor in their own handwriting (no pre-printed signatures!) and that the Registrar’s Office cannot accept electronic certificates of incapacity for work.

Deadlines for the Winter Semester 2026/27
Registration for coursework (e.g., mandatory submission of exercises, internship assignments, term papers, seminars, project work, and, where applicable, as a prerequisite for an exam) must be completed via unisono before submitting the first (partial) assignment. Registration in unisono will be open from October 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027. As long as you are not registered for the course requirement, you cannot and must not submit any work! Please resolve any issues directly with the relevant department. Please check the module descriptions (see below!) to determine in which modules you are required to complete coursework.
Registration for written exams runs from December 1, 2026, until 14 days before each written exam (unisono calculates this down to the exact hour!).
Please note that different deadlines may apply for exams in modules imported from other degree programs. Information on this can be found at the Registrar’s Office of the degree program from which the module was imported.
The deadlines listed are strict; registration after the deadline is only possible in justified cases of hardship by submitting a written request to the Examination Board!
Registration for oral exams (online registration in unisono followed by scheduling an appointment with the examiner) must take place at least 7 days before the exam date (preferably well in advance!).
Important: Registered oral exams that will no longer take place during the semester for which they were registered must be canceled no later than 8 days before the end of the semester. Exams for which you have registered but did not take will not be carried over to the following semester, and it will no longer be possible to cancel or re-register for them. In this case, a “did not appear” (which means a grade of 5.0) will automatically be recorded.
The following applies to exams: The withdrawal form due to illness must be submitted to the Examinations Office in writing or by email (PDF) no later than three business days after the exam, along with a doctor’s note. If submitted by mail, the postmark date will be considered the submission date.
For theses: The illness must be reported to the Examinations Office immediately in writing or by email (PDF), along with a doctor’s note.
Please note that medical certificates must be signed by the doctor in their own handwriting (no pre-printed signatures!) and that the Examinations Office cannot accept electronic certificates of incapacity for work.
