Dear students of the 1st semester of the Master of Psychology (major subject), welcome to the study of psychology in Siegen!
Here we summarize the most important information about starting your psychology studies in Siegen.
Introductoryweek
To make it easier for our students to start their studies, the Department of Psychology organizes an introduction to the course shortly before the start of the winter semester lecture period.
Topics of the introductory week will include
" Getting to know your fellow students
" Getting to know your lecturers
" Getting to know the building, the campus and the city
" Explanation of the curriculum, the module handbook and the examination regulations
" Introduction to the university library
and bring your student ID or certificate of enrolment with you to the induction week.

Student Advisory Service and Coordination
The Central Student Advisory Service and the Psychology Student Advisory Service can advise you on any other questions you may have in connection with the first semester.
- The Central Student AdvisoryService
provides advice on all questions relating to studying psychology at the University of Siegen. It is the central point of contact for study orientation and advice on all degree programs at the University of Siegen. It provides open-ended, confidential and neutral advice and helps you to help yourself. Here you can find the contact persons at the Central Student Advisory Service. - The Psychology Student Advisory Service provides advice on subject-specific questions, questions regarding the possible recognition of credits, the introductory week, etc.
- For information via thestudy coordination e-mail distribution list , please register here with your student e-mail address only. Subscription requests from e-mail addresses that do not belong to the University of Siegen will be rejected.
- The Student Secretariat ensures the smooth administration of the affairs of all students with a German school-leaving qualification. This includes the entire student life from the application for a study place to admission to studies, enrolment, transfer, re-registration, leave of absence and de-registration.

Latecomers
If you start studying Psychology in Siegen as a latecomer and missed the introductory week, you will of course also receive all the information you need. Please contact the student advisory service. You will also receive a place in all lectures and seminars in the first semester as a latecomer.
Finding accommodation
The Studierendenwerk manages a number of halls of residence. On the homepage you will find a description of all residences and an application form.
There is also a housing portal where private landlords can advertise a room or apartment.
You can of course also search the general housing market.
For orientation: Psychology is located on the Adolf Reichwein Campus.
Student financing
In addition to your own income from a part-time job and/or support from your parents, there are a number of other sources of student financing. These range from BAföG to foundations, scholarships, loans and the Studienförderfonds Siegen e.V. Here you will find detailed information on these various sources of student finance.
The Studienstiftung deutscher Psychologinnen und Psychologen e.V., which awards scholarships, should be mentioned specifically for psychology students.
