A brief introduction to the self-study program "German in a Nutshell"
Enrolling in an English-language program at a German university might lead you to believe that it’s also possible to find a job in Germany without a working knowledge of German.
Our experience at the Career Service tells a different story: A lack of reliable German language skills limits the number of positions available to job-seeking students in the German labor market. Since German is the everyday language in Germany, a good command of German is essential for you to succeed in your job, even if the working language is English.
The concise seminars—both online and in-person—offered on this website will provide you with all the information you need to make the self-study program “German in a Nutshell” a part of your daily routine. This could be the first step toward successfully finding a job in Germany.
Please register directly by email at info@career.uni-siegen.de. Within a few days, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the room number so you can attend in person, and a link to our GIN Webex room so you can participate online—whichever you prefer.
Additionally, you’re always welcome to join one of our seminars in German. Just take the plunge or simply overcome your shyness: attending a career services seminar in German can be the start of a real motivation to learn German, because Germany is definitely the best place to learn German. Don’t hesitate to give it a try.
Good to know: One of the services offered by our university to help you become more familiar with the German language are the courses offered by the Language Center.
