Helpful Tips
You can find all required information in the applicable examination regulations.
For writing seminar papers and theses in LaTeX, we recommend using Overleaf. Overleaf is a browser-based LaTeX editor that can be used free of charge and does not require any software installation.
To help you get started, we provide a LaTeX demo template on Overleaf that follows our Guidelines for Writing Academic Papers. The template includes a title page, examples of citations, figures, tables and equations, as well as a declaration of independent work.
Open the template using the link below and create your own copy via Menu → Copy Project. You can then freely edit your copy without changing the original template.
On this page, the Team Digitale Lehre at the University of Siegen provides central information, guidelines, and current projects on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in studying, teaching, and administration.
Below you can find the Faculty’s guidelines on the use of AI in academic writing.
The University Library provides a wide range of electronic resources to support your literature search.
A database frequently used by researchers is Google Scholar.
Please remember to use your VPN client when accessing licensed databases and full-text electronic journals provided by the University Library from off campus.
We recommend using reference management software. For example, the University Library provides all students with a full version of Citavi Pro. Alternatively, you can use the freely available reference management software Zotero.
Citavi allows you to import references from websites quickly and easily and to compile them into an alphabetically sorted bibliography. Using Citavi can therefore save a considerable amount of time.
The University Library regularly offers courses on how to use Citavi. However, the software is largely self-explanatory.
