24.03.2026 from 14:00, Music Hall of the University of Siegen

This year, the Department of Music at the University of Siegen is once again offering an information afternoon for prospective students. All those who are interested in studying music with us are invited. The offer is particularly interesting for you if you are not yet sure whether studying music is the right thing for you or whether you are up to the demands of such a course or the necessary aptitude test. You will receive general information about studying music in Siegen and have the opportunity to take part in a mock exam in aural training (which will be corrected during the afternoon), audition or play your instrument in order to receive feedback from our lecturers about your level of preparation.

Here is the schedule:

14:00: General information about studying music in Siegen with the opportunity to ask your questions

14:30: Aural training mock exam

Afterwards: Opportunity to audition in the instruments and in singing

Registration deadline: 10.03.2026 at the secretary's office of the music department: daniel@musik.uni-siegen.de

Registration is absolutely necessary!

We look forward to your participation and getting to know you!

The Institute of Music offers free courses to prepare for the aptitude test. In several consecutive units, an overview of all exam-relevant topics from the areas of music theory and aural training is provided, and there is the opportunity to ask questions, work together and practise tasks that will later appear in the aptitude test. It is also possible to perform and discuss prepared examination pieces for the instrumental and vocal practical parts of the examination.

The next preparation courses will take place from March 2026.

Further information on registration, dates and the preparation course schedule can be found in the information letter.

The Verein zur Förderung begabter Kinder und Jugendlicher Südwestfalen offers interested pupils an online course that provides intensive preparation for music studies and will take place weekly from November (Tuesdays from 6-7.30 pm). The course "Listening to and Understanding Music" provides in-depth knowledge of harmony, ear training and general music theory and offers numerous practical exercises.

A successfully completed course-internal final examination is recognized as part of the aptitude test at the Institute of Music at the University of Siegen.

Unfortunately there will be no course this year due to too few registrations!

Further information on registration, dates and the course schedule can be found here
and on the homepage of the Verein zur Förderung begabter Kinder und Jugendlicher Südwestfalen.
