The subject of music is studied in all teacher training courses in a six-semester Bachelor's course and a subsequent four-semester Master's course. The university degree course is followed by a traineeship (Referendariat). Further information can be found on the ZLB homepage.

Music is studied in combination with another school-specific subject (compulsory for elementary school in combination with basic linguistic and mathematical education). Possible subject combinations can also be found on the ZLB homepage. In the major subject Music, the subject Music is studied with double the number of hours instead of another subject.

All music degree courses consist of the sub-areas of music education, music practice, music theory and musicology. In addition to individual and group lessons in various practical music disciplines, lectures, seminars, exercises and projects form the core of the course.
