Why learn Swedish?
Learning Swedish gives you the opportunity to better understand the country, the culture, and the people behind the language. In our courses, you’ll practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a practical way, so you can apply what you’ve learned right away—whether you’re traveling in Sweden, studying Scandinavian topics, or interacting with Swedish students.
Moreover, Swedish isn’t just useful for studying or traveling: knowledge of the language facilitates access to Scandinavian universities, research projects, and career opportunities in international companies. You’ll gain a better understanding of the Nordic way of thinking and working and can build connections in a country known for innovation, sustainability, and design.

If you have valid proof or a valid certificate of your language proficiency, a placement test is not required.
Our Swedish teacher
Sebastian Kaufmann studied Swedish at the University of Bonn and at what is now Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden. His motto is clear: A year without having been to Sweden is a year wasted. Since completing his studies, he has worked full-time as a Swedish teacher in North Rhine-Westphalia and has been teaching at the Language Center at the University of Siegen since 2010.
