Target group:

1. employees who work with class 3R, 3B or 4 lasers and are to be appointed as laser safety officers

2. already appointed laser safety officers, refresher ( new OStrV ), in-depth training

3. employees who work with lasers but do not work as laser safety officers

4. other employees

The LSB has completed technical or scientific vocational training or comparable training with at least 2 years of professional experience.

Note: When registering, please indicate the affiliation groups (1 to 4) and your field of activity (laser classes).

Instructor: TÜV Nord Academy

Prerequisites: The approval of the supervisor must be obtained prior to registration.

Costs: None (will be borne by the university)

Contents/ scope of qualification:

• Legal basis (health, work, fire and environmental protection)

• Implementation at the University of Siegen

• Responsible persons in the company

• Tasks, rights, duties and liability of the laser safety officer

• Physical basics

• Laser classifications and labeling

• Biological effects and health hazards

• Fire and explosion hazards due to laser applications

• Technical and organizational protective measures

• Personal protective equipment for eyes and skin

• Other secondary hazards associated with laser applications

• Final examination

Date: The course will not take place in 2026.
